No, you don't have to have a Boardwalk view! We have had a standard view at the BWI twice and have seen the higher fireworks from Illuminations from our balcony. Because of how the fireworks are, you'll only be able to see the higher fireworks from the Epcot resorts area. Anyway, call and add a request for an Epcot view on your reservation. It's a great view!

We also had a standard view facing Epcot and were able to see the higher fireworks from our balcony.

It all depends on what floor you are on (we were on the highest floor) and which way your room is facing. :)

You didn't say whether you've seen Illuminations before. If not then you may be disappointed as the majority of the effects are low over the water and only visible from vantage points inside the park around World Showcase Lagoon. In either case, I hope you have a great trip!

I have seen illuminations many times its my favorite fireworks show :). I had originally booked the contemporary with an MK view in order to see the wishes fireworks. Due to financial reason i decided to switch to boardwalk Inn. Not only because of the closeness to Epcot and Hollywood Studios but in hopes to maybe see the high fireworks of illuminations. I know i wont be able to see the low ones but i guess anything is good. I had booked a water view but with some research, people say that you can see the high fireworks on your balcony with standard view. I called to change it to a standard view with a high floor 3rd and above. I am hoping they give me a room so i cant see them :worship:

Thanks for the information :) before i posted this question, i called and requested a high floor with my standard view. So i should call back and request epcot view or garden view? Would saying i want a room on the fifth floor help lol? Like i posted before, i booked the contemporary MK view for the fireworks. I am hoping to get something at boardwalk inn lol. If not i know im going to have a great time! I love disney :mickeyjum
